Hamilton Module Required.

Post09 Mar 2012, 22:18

I am looking for a module for the watch as shown here http://www.retroleds.com/Items/WA168.htm

The original is a Frontier and the depth is 7mm.

Hi Mick,

Would it be similar to the one here that was sold on EBay recently, 270927680895.

If so the seller, Joe (Ole Joe on the Forum) May have a NOS frontier that is suitable.

It could well be, the module is marked 2005, although it does not have the 'B' at the end, I am not sure if the 'B' denotes a different module, I tried a 'normal' Frontier module which did fit inside the case but was too thick for the case back and the contacts were to high for the buttons to hit - Just had a thought I wonder if I could swap the PCB from the spare Frontier module that I have into the original carrier, I will have to give that a try.

Thanks for the heads up, if my PCB swap plan fails, I will ask Joe and/or Ed if they have a spare module.

Hello Mick,

The "B" designation only represents a change to the layout of the ceramic substrate to accomodate a wire bonding change from the IC. Functionally, the " No revision", "A" revision and "B" revision should all operate the same if my memory serves me right, been along time. Can't hurt to try the substrate from another 2005 module. Let us know the results.

The board swap worked a treat and the watch is now working :-D The only visible difference between the two modules apart from the carrier colour was the original module had copper contacts in front of the conductive rubber blocks which sat deeper allowing the case buttons to make contact.
Thanks All :-D
