TAKE THE MONEY THE WATCH AND RUN!

Post26 May 2012, 04:04

Hello Old led pulsar enthusiasts.

My name is Phil and I am new on the forum. I had the permission from a moderator of this forum to put forward a problem of mine. This is to be a warning to all that do business with others to get your old pulsar fixed.

I started appreciating vintage led watches having fun looking at them on Ebay and reading about them on Google. One day I decided to make the jump and got a very well preserved P2 Date II. What a wonderful piece of technology mixed with artistic design, simple and perfect!

This is the real watch:

After a couple of days, the batteries needed changing. When I had to reset the date on it, my left button was not working. I went to a watch forum (http://www.dwf.cc/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=615) and asked about the proper method to repair the damn thing. A very knowledgeable person told me he could repair it and did this all the time. I was thanking the Gods! :-D

The person told me to send him the watch, and to send him the $40 us fee with Paypal return shipping included and that he would return the watch in about a week or so with a tracking number. I sent him the watch and paid right away. He confirmed that he received the watch and started his procedure. This was late December 2011. After a couple of weeks I started asking questions about the item on the forum and the "Old Pulsar specialist" started talking about switches and magnetism and super technological items he needed to build to get the job done since this was a very complicated operation. I needed to arm myself with patience. :-| I was getting a weird feeling about it at that point but the gentleman was well behaved and seemed to be well known and priced by the old pulsar community of the forum, so I stayed calm and left the destiny of the patient in the hands of the "doctor"!

After another couple of weeks I started to ask questions again and the repair man called me at home and told me that he had sent the watch back a long time ago and that I should have received it by now! I asked for the tracking number and he told me that he had none and that he had lost the post office slip. My watch was lost in space! He then told me that if I had not receive it by April 30th that he would replace it with one from his collection. I was suspiciously relieved but still getting this feeling of being taken for the idiot that sent a expensive watch out to a complete stranger.

After that, nothing! , the old man never answered his phone nor did he answer his personal messages on the forum. I asked the users for help to locate this person and that brought me to this wonderful place where this individual is still active or was.

I know that I will never see my watch again and that the chances that I get it replaced by him are close to none but needed to get this out in the open to expose this person and make him know that he is not a old-fashioned, honest guy he was stating he was. He is a thief, a liar and a hypocrite and I will never forget his name.

Thank you for your time, peace!

Because I haven't found the shipping slip, they are going to have to do a physical record search. That is, go through all their shipping records by hand. I'm told that will take "some time". I'm hoping a few days, at most (in the meantime, I am continuing the hunt for the paperwork that must be here, somewhere). I'll call you the minute I hear anything from the post office. If this package was damaged or misdirected, I'm told it should eventually find its' way back here. So, hold a positive thought, and wish me luck...

P.S. Just to dispel any worry you might have about this, I put this in writing:
If your watch is not found by the end of the month (April 30th), I will pull an identical one out of my collection, and FedEx it to you at my expense. I do this for two reasons. First, I'm a old-fashioned, honest guy, and second, I'm confident this watch WILL be found (just probably not as soon as either of us would like). BTW, one thing I did NOT do (which I will always do from now on) is record the serial number. If you have a picture of the back that shows it, or you just have a record of it, please send it to me; it might prove useful.

Hello nipper1,

On all phpBB forums you can go see the profile of a user my simply clicking on his name.

memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=110

There you can look at all the member's posts and also see the last time the member logged on.
Bruce Wegmann has been logging on every day for a very long time.

Also, if you send a personnal message to a member you will see that your message goes in your outbox, if the members opens the message, it will then go in your "sent" folder.

Bruce is simply giving us the silent treatment hopping time will be on his side.

On that note... I set my pulsar alarm to take a "Bruce Wegmann" break every day to scope his activities, that way "time" is on mine.

Weird. I bought a bracelet link from him, it got to my adress in 5 days.

I once bought a crystal for a Seiko from someone in the Uk, took weeks before it arrived.

I haven't dealt much with him, and a link is ofcourse not comparable with a complete watch, I just hope your watch will arrive

from the usa a watch should not take longer than 10 working days at the very most to get to the uk. sending watches from the uk . if shipped the right way. same time scale. but if someone sends the cheapest way it can take weeks.

Thank you Dutchsiberia for your comment, I always take positive thinking as a humain batterie boost. You just gave me some free energy! Best Regards

To nipper1, All items comming from the United-States to Quebec, Canada take about 2 weeks, sometimes 3 when you hit holidays. After 2 months... its better to say it never happened.

Just got my P2 Date replacement from a guy from EBay.

The date button is not working! :-? ... I feel that the PULSAR spirits are testing me! ;-)

Please give me some names of people that can repair a demagnetized button by personnal message.

Best Regards

Napnap, perhaps there could be a simpler solution to get the date button of your P2 Date II working again. Check out this thread:

http://www.newdwf.com/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=5670

Phasar66 had the same problem of your watch, and he managed to fix it by simply putting a small and thin magnet into the caseback, close to the date button, so the magnet can assist the weak button while it's pushed, and activates the date. After he found the best spot for the magnet, he glued it on the internal part of the caseback with epoxy. Hope it's helpful. :-)

You can begin by putting a small magnet under the caseback, close to the date button, and try to press date button, to check out if something happens. In that case, you can begin to cut the magnet, making it small and thin enough to be glued into the internal part of the caseback.

EDIT: By the way, have you tried to check if the reed switch isn't broken by putting the setting magnet close to the date button? So you can be sure if it's a button problem or a reed switch one. ;-)

Well, you must thank Phasar66, who found out this simple and clever trick to bring de-magnetized Pulsar buttons back to life. I've just pointed you to his thread. :-D

Here's the link to his thread, where he shows what he did, it's something quite simple to do:

viewtopic.php?f=65&t=5670

Let us know if Phasar's strategy will work on your P2, and of course don't forget to post pictures of your new baby when you'll fix it! :-D

(IMHO, Phasar's thread should be stickied, as it contains a very simple and useful repair tip, which could be an easy fix for people who have a Pulsar with a non working button! ;-) )
