Can Anyone Identify this Module ??

Post23 Aug 2012, 13:05

I recently acquired an Aquadive LED (no, not the one on Ebay), and it had this module in it:

It works well, except that one segment on one digit is out..........display fault :-(
I originally though it was a Fairchild LED, but it isn't. The diameter of the substrate is about 25mm, and although it is a common button layout, I can't find anything small enough to fit the carrier. The notch (cirled in red) is the problem. A Fairchild or a Frontier will basically fit the carrier, but overhangs this notch, which means it wont fit into the case.........the case has a big locating 'nub' which mates with this notch.

I could try to replace the display, but don't fancy doing it. Doesn't look much fun !
Anyone know what sort of module this is ?

Rgds,
Andrew.

The bane of our existence....25mm modules. Some of the Collins 29mm modules have a small enough board to be jockeyed onto a smaller hub. Could be display, could be display driver section...

Hi Ed - if a Collins is suitable how abot the 20.5mm version on Ebay, item number 130749182646, for £12.50 buy it now - would you be able to take the substrate off this and use it or would it be too small?

That would probably be kind of small.
I just pulled open a 29mm Collins...22.6mm board. Here's the rub - batterys are top & bottom, not right to left like your module(compared) to contacts. I've sold a lot of people a lot of modules but I don't think I've ever sold off a 25-26mm with contacts at 1 & 3. Too freakin rare compared to the inevitable drop-dead gorgeous case I'll stumble across. Or to put another way - I normally store modules by size and contact position and cases the same, in totally different storage containers. I keep the 25-26mm cases and modules together so I don't forget to make that rare chance match-up 8-) . Lots of Panaquartz watches are 25.5mm with contacts at 1&3. Not much else I can contribute on this one. Good luck.
