New SS P3 restored

Post19 Oct 2012, 06:07

Geoff article on watch restoration inspire me on restoring this P3 case a got a few days ego.
I wanted to put in practice some of his tecniques and averything I had learned so far, I want it
to do it right this time and avoid the mistakes I made before.
I got the watch as non working and in effect, it didn't work. For awile I had the intrigue about the
solid link band on this watch and I wanted to own one. later I got a chance to get a nice clean and bright module of a Hamilton,
I know I should get the a pulsar signed module for this, but this is what it is for now... I like the new bracellet better than
the hollow one, it feels more confortable and easy on the wrist.

Another Pulsar saved... wonderful job!
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
The reason i collect watches is because it feels like i'm buying time.

Thank you all of you. It has been a year since I joined the forum, to be exact it was October 14. It all started when at the flea market spotted a nice gold Phasar 2000, I past it a first but return a second time and ask to see it, as soon I pushed the pusher and thosemagical red numbers came on the red screen I was sold, the price was right, 35.00 dollars.

I got home and belelieve or not I end up to this forum looking for imformation how to set the time, to my surprise I was not alone and a whole comunity of enthusiast existed willing to help, how cool is that. and yes, I was warned that this can be addicted, you guys were right, last time I counted I own 38 watches. and still can stop. next on the list is a Pulsar sport.

To celebrate I got my Phasar a nice dot display module with flick of the wrist funtion, same display than pulsar.
This module came out of a Gruen, at first I though it was from Frontier but thanks to Ed post Frontier had nothing to do with this module.
Here is a picture of my first LED.

Geoff,

WOW! That is very clean looking! I remember you saying that you use a scratch removal compound, and that has a tendency to remove the gold plating from watches, especially the Seiko gold plating, as it is thin. I see with this Phasar, that is NOT the case! That is really pretty, and so sharp. I wish I could get those results. I will keep trying.

Thanks Patrick, I don't take credit for this one, actually I got in this shape, which is very nice, the plating on this one is also very thin and there is hardly anything you can do if they are too sacratched up, I learned the hard way. SS is another story, if they are not that bad you can always bring them back to their full glory.
I never looked a Seikos the way I ook at them now, they are great watches.
I just restored this one and finally polish the glass but after few days it started acting up,
after a few days working great it just dies after pushing the light or the crown to toggle between time and chrono, then it slowlly comes back again and it does it all over again. I will be looking for a movement or a donor soon, I really like it and want to keep it for along time.
