I'd agree with Mick the band looks original - if the velour is coming off you might decide to just rub it all off, the bands still look pretty nice. You can have an oversized band notched to fit that case, someone at a better jewelers should have the correct tool (I have it too, basically a square-cut nibbler). The basic black is nice as it doesn't compete with the bezel. Here is a related model, I decided to let the band and case fight it out. :-)

Yes I have your module and some of the foreign language ones too - Spanish & German. And one odd "Let's Fuck" that works off button at left position.

I bought this watch not too long ago (the case only) and I would like to know a little bit more about the right module for it and what kind of band would best fit it. Could you help in this issue?Thank you.

The watch contains a Hughes Aircraft 29mm module, the one that is fitted in the watch is a dot display module which I think would be the correct module for the age of the watch (1974). If you do not want to stick to the original there are several different variations of the Hughes 29mm module; dot display, line segment display and several choices to be made when it comes to functions, hours, minutes, seconds, AM/PM dot indicator, continuous seconds, month, date, 24 hour display, day of the week display, European display modules, fixed message modules and of course the programmable message display modules which allow you to display your own choice of message (five words of up to five letters).

It is a nice case and deserves to have a module fitted, luckily enough they are quite easy to find and watches containing the 29mm Hughes modules are common on eBay, look for watches with the same button lay out (commands at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock, set button at 3 o'clock) and ask the seller for confirmation that it has a Hughes inside to be sure before bidding or contact Ed Cantarella at Retroleds he will have a range of options for you including the programmable modules..... http://retroleds.com/product/hughes-29mm/ MrFrequency AKA Lloyd was selling the European modules not so long back, these had the day of week display in another language (Spanish - I think) and also the 24 hour display or put up a wanted post here on the forum.

The band fitted to the watch photographed is branded Wittnauer and looks (to me) to be original, the watch has a lug width of 24mm and the fitted band has a maximum width of 29mm at the lug end extending past either side of the lugs where it fits to the case, the case is quite big and square so this sort of band does suit the watch and would be the way to go in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

Hold on, hold on, let write it down, lol lol :ha:
I believe I have a few Compuchrons that I could "borrow" a module from  (even thought I would prefer to put a dot matrix module, i just love dot matrix modules, i can't explain why, but I DO!!!! :-D )
I'm going to try to don't spend too much (more) money this month, and as soon as everything goes back to normal, I will see if I can upgrade it :grin1:
Thank you for the info, and as soon as i get something I will let you know.
:amen:

Hey guys,

After reading about (and lusting over) all these really neat Wittnauer Polaras, it occurred to me to ask if anyone here knows where I can get another lens, for one of my Polara 125's? There's nothing wrong with the lens it has now, except that it doesn't have the Wittnauer logo on it. I see in these IMPRESSIVE pictures, that there was at least ONE 125 in the lot, which didn't have a logo. Normally I might think that the logo on mine has simply worn off, but as I've owned at least three of these 125's which had no logo on them, I'm wondering if it wasn't sort of "optional" to have a logo, when purchased new? Anyway, if anybody knows where I can dig up another lens, I'd sure appreciate it! By the way, I also think it would be a GREAT idea, if someone were to go into a logo-replacement business, maybe like silk-screening, but on a really small scale? Thanks! Dodger ;-)

hi Dodger,
these backed-on logos were made to last but not for long if heavily worn.
I guess some people had them removed which is not that difficult with a scalpel and without any damage to the crystal.
I don't believe any producer would make a product without the logo especially that on the Wittnauer the crystal is the only location of the company name.
in reference to reproducing a logo...then watch out ;) some people don't appreciate those thoughts and consider them a criminal offence.
the same people somehow forget that watch dial-refinishing is a common practice and the Rolexes and even more expensive watches still retain their value or even go up after having a dial repainted.
