A warning, do not disassemble the watch. There is a position threaded retaining ring (the inner one) which holds the battery module in place. The module is locked in position by a plastic tab. There is a DEFINITE possibility that when loosening the threaded inner retains ring that the module will shift if not held physically in position. The tab is not strong enough to do this (design flaw). This may shear quartz crystal, battery tab and trimming capacitor off the circuit board.

Replace the (dot) and (at) in the email address with

Sorry for taking a peek but knowing that Geoff is the master of the HP-01 I believe you guys are referring to the calculator.

In fact he bought the watch for 298 thinking it needed restoration. Plugged in batteries and it is working! Lucky SOB!

Your pictures are perfect as usual, but that is the outer ring which locks the PCB in place. The inner ring is the problematic one, especially if the battery module plastic position tab is worn.

Very true, if the battery holder will rotate by accident it will be a razor sharp cut against the quartz and trimmer.

btw. any good source of quartz tubes of this awkward frequency?

I did get quite lucky with an HP01 last week and of course visited your page and re-read all of Geoff's posts on the topic.

Thanks for the link to those quartz tubes, so close but I would not expect that they are still available.

Good luck with the bracelet, a used piece sold for 200$ a few months back.
