Having restored the above watch, I love it. This is the basis for the new LCD backlit LED flight master. The new flight master is thicker and fits a large wrist nicely.
I spent an hour at the Omega boutique in Vancouver discussing the functions with the manager from a pilots standpoint. It is definitely a pilots watch. Even has a TMI (track message identifier) option which I have found on only one other watch, my HP01's which I wear on the flight deck.
The watch is thicker then the original, but less heavy. The alarm is really LOUD! You would actually hear it over the 80db din of a jet flight deck.
I liked it but could it justify 6000 USd.
The backlit LCD red display (via an LED) is very bright and mimics an LED nicely.
If you are a pilot, especially an international pilot with a large wrist, I wold recommend it. Just be aware at how thick it is, as you will be knocking it around in the confines of the cockpit. I find this with all watches though, fumbling for,the electric seat controls and etc.
Cheers, Geoff
