I've got a feeling it is. Ages ago I saw a pic of one in an old 70's catalogue and I remember thinking that looks like an lcd bracelet.

Cheers for that I thought I was going bonkers, but you've put my mind at rest.
When mine arrived some time ago. I thought I was going to have to change the band as I thought that it was an LCD one too.
I even emailed Ed at Retro LED's as he has the modules for sale and his has a more period looking band.
Never received a reply though.
Here's mine below not the best pic, it was taken by the seller.

I can stop looking for the original band now as I most probably already have it.
