Synchronar hope?

Post03 Jun 2015, 20:00

Hello
I am French, speak very bad English, am ignorant, translate google, hope you will understand me.

Here is my Synchronar is probably dead, but before concluding I wanted your opinion.

It is not me who is dismantled the box, I recovered the open shows, it has already undergoes a first cleaning (fast) are by former owner.
This is to my knowledge a model III, the serial number is printed circuit 008F ?
The micro controller is in box.
There is no resistance on the circuit. (I do not know if there were originally ???)
There was a lot of corrosion on the circuit.
Some tracks are missing cleaning.
The solar panel delivers a voltage of 2.6 volts.
If luckily the microcontroller running and succeed to repair printed circuit tracks, the problem is the LED display which seems to him also died (cut bond).

But what is your diagnosis?

Here are photos.

Hi Anthony.
I would say that there is a good chance your Synchronar can be revived. The IC is encapsulated, so is well protected.
The display can be replaced relatively easily if needed. I'd do this last if necessary, once you get it working.

The circuit board may need replacing. The vias (holes in the board) may have lost connectivity, and some of them are under the IC (making it difficult to check or repair without removing the IC).

Lastly, I believe it's a Mark 4. All of the square ICs seem to be Mark 4. Mark 3 seem to be rectangular. I have 2 encapsulated Mark 3 Synchs and they use the same rectangular packages as the Mark 1s and Mark 2s.

:-D Hello charger105
I am very happy with your first diagnosis.
It'll probably be a Mark 4

1 - The circuit board may need replacing
I must take up the scheme to make it produce?

2 - I'd do this last if necessary.
You personally? I will send you the circuit in Australia?

Again thank you charger105

A small question.
On a manual, I read that the size of the spring bar is 13/16 (21mm)
A far it seems that it is rather 7/8 (22mm)
Do you have a choice length and diameter of the spring bar ?
thank you

:Hi:

No don't send it to me
I'm happy to give you advice though.
I've got a new un-used circuit board that you're welcome to have. However, looking closely at it, the holes aren't actually under the IC. They are around the edge of the IC, so you should be able to measure if you've got connectivity through the hole, and if not, clean them, and re-solder (you could even stick a wire through the hole if need be).

Just use whatever spring bars fit securely.

Hello everyone
Hello charger105.
The new, not very good.
I controlled connectivity through the holes.
There are holes without connectivity.
A photo to see the problem :bang:

Hello charger105
It's really very nice.
I will anyway disassemble integrated circuit to verify that the legs should not be too oxidized.
that the center of the picture is not very beautiful.
I informed you Yours Friday if I have time.
thank you again. :-D
