New Home For The Collection

Post17 Jul 2015, 21:47

I had to relocate my watch collection into a smaller space, after some searching I found quite a large display cabinet in Ikea which was just the right size and I managed to squeeze in all the watches I wanted to display. :-D

It's a little bit cramped but I really should really thin them out and sell some on - although I have been saying this for two years now.. .. .. and thinking about it a better idea would be to buy some extra glass shelves to make some more room instead. :grin1:

Wow, that´s a nice display! How much time did it take to place all those incredible digitals? What does you wife say as she can see all of your "stuff" at once? :grin1:

The alcove was already there, no construction work (or destruction work) was required. ;-)

My old 'hobby room' which I had previously used to display the watches has now been reclaimed as a bedroom by my son who returned to live back home a short time ago.

Admittedly it took quite a while to position the watches as I like to have them 'just so'. The wife will just have to grin and bear it, bad luck if she doesn't like it - I'm the boss. ~:( ~:( :grin1:

Really really nice job Mick. Although,
If I was to have a display cabinet that size I wouldn't be the boss any more. M:)W:)M

I spotted a beauty 2nd hand on ebay 5 miles from me. It was like a corner cabinet
with 6 sided, 3 glass fronts with opposing 3 mirror backs. It was perfect for sitting in
a useless return corner on our landing.
When I showed her the listing, I took one look at her face and deleted it. :bang:

Anyway nice one dude. You keep the cabinet I'll just have the watches. :grin1:

Love the new space-saving display case, though I’d be tempted to rotate the watches periodically.

I second that!
Also, are those all loaded with batteries? If so what's your routine for making sure the batteries all get changed as soon as they fade out?

I will have to pester my son for the high resolution photo, he has the expensive camera - mine is OK for standard photo's only.

I do keep them with batteries installed but test them intermittently replacing any that are found to be dead or on the way out.
