Good afternoon,
I recently acquired an Orient LED ("Touch") that was disassembled.
There is a Ziploc bag of parts containing:
--two small metal discs ("discs"), each the diameter of a 357 battery, with apparent battery contacts on one side (upward prongs);
--what appears to be a single clear plastic spacer, which fits perfectly around a 357 battery. the battery fits nicely inside the green module with this spacer, but there was only one included.
My questions:
1. are the discs supposed to lay on the upward side of each battery, with the prongs pressing against the battery, once batteries are installed?
2. should there be two plastic spacers, one for each battery?
I've heard of spacers being required for Pulsar P2/3, but never for Orient.
It definitely takes the 357 batteries though.
Any thoughts appreciated.
*****************EDIT: After comparing the "spacers" to P2/3 spacers, it appears the spacer that came with the Orient is much thinner, about the thickness of 0.5 mm. More like a plastic "sleeve". Any idea what this is for, and why only a single one? Perhaps it is to prevent batteries from touching.
***********FURTHER EDIT: After cogitating on this question, it appears there can be only 2 practical purposes for such a plastic "sleeve" on a battery: 1)to prevent inadvertent contact with another battery or side of module battery cut-out; 2)to mitigate potential corrosion damage, in event of battery leakage. The sleeve does cover the negative contact side of battery somewhat, with approx. 4mm aperture. It covers the battery "seam".
