Solid gold Pulsar P-2 case ?

Post09 Apr 2020, 13:03

I purchased a regular Gold fill non working P-2 from eBay. It arrived and I removed the module to reveal what I think is a sold gold case, even though the case back says L80 microns ? I have owned a few sold gold P-2's and they have always had the hollowed out case with module screw stands which this has. Or am I going crazy and they made gold fill P-2 with this interior case design ?

This case weighs 22.37 grams, and a regular gold fill P-2 weighs 28.10 grams. So I'm guessing i might be right. Any thoughts.

Wow, looks like a gold case to me, my P2s don't have standoffs like that and I've seen postings of other gold cases that have standoffs. What a pleasant surprise! Perhaps Bruce could way in his thoughts, but in my opinion looks like you've struck gold!

Yep, definitely solid gold.
Mine is the same, and was obtained similarly..........although mine came with a standard SS caseback.
It should have a SS back saying "14K Gold Bezel. Stainless Steel Back".

Consensus on this forum was that mine was solid.
Congratulations!

Many thanks for the replies. I knew it had to be 14 k solid Gold. How did this watch end up with a gold fill case back and bracelet. I know Pulsar did this version with the SS case-back. The sellers reports it was her dads watch and he bought it in Atlanta Georgia late 72.
I've just re brushed the case and glued in a NOS time screen, but now need to find a 14 k gold case back and sold gold bracelet. Yep impossible I know

The 2975 solid gold model had a SS caseback and GF bracelet
A weird combination!
So the bracelet is probably original. Someone may have got the casebacks mixed up when changing the batteries.
Or maybe the butterfly clip came off and they used a spare caseback to get the watch working ?
Your gain!!

This can only be the only explanation. I mean the Pulsar factory would accidentally use a Solid gold case on a Gold Fill P-2
