HP-01 Crystal with new logo

Post17 Apr 2025, 06:00

Gosh, haven't posted on this forum since two years ago... For HP owners with scratched crystals one method of restoring them is to simply remove it and turn it over. While this will result in a pristine finish you loose the HP logo. Through a collaboration effort of a few talented friends we managed to modify a scratched HP-01 crystal and restore the logo using a professionally made transfer and 0.3mm clear glass laminate. This was a proof of concept and not meant to be offered for sale.

Thank you gjlelec, this concept was discussed years earlier until we took action and started to collaborate. One was skilled in graphics art and created a professional transfer, one was skilled in optical lens modification / restoration and I helped with the restoration of the HPs (crystal removal, cleaning and installing). It did take several tries but now that we have it down the quality has been consistent. Due to the 0.3mm glass laminate there is a subtle increase in the height of the crystal but it is hardly noticeable. I'd rather have this vs a chipped edge and worn down logo. There are so many skilled people out there and when we collaborate the sky's the limit.

Regards,
Bobby
