Prototype Casquette

Post01 Jun 2025, 18:38

I recently bid on this watch in an Antiquorum auction . It was advertised as a prototype Casquette from circa 1970 (in other words they dont know its age) It was produced by Ebauches SA- which would eventually morph into todays ETA. From what i understand Ebauches concentrated on innovation, would make a prototype and send it around various watch companies who would then produce their own version of it (reminded me of the "delirium" watches of the 80s where Concord, Eterna, Longines, IWC, Chopard , Sarcar to name a few, all made a version based on the same Ebauches calibre to make the worlds thinnest watch ). I was amazed it was still working perfectly after 50 + years. The winning bid of CHF 1500 was over three times mine
