Opinions please - was this originally a wristwatch?

Post14 Jun 2006, 04:53

Saw this on eby and thought,"wow, I have one of those watches, they ground off the bottom lug and narrowed the top one, making it into a pendant?!" Or is it really a pendant(not that I want it...the wife has enough "bling" Too funny!

This is totally original; I have seen only a few of these over the last three years [more in goldtone than stainless]. They're not common; the serial number tells the story...they were all low, like this one [416], so I doubt CompuChron was churning them out by the tens of thousands, like most of their other models. This specimen is also in way better-than-average condition, so it will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I've seen them before too and own one. I've never seen them go for crazy prices but that's mainly because they are a pendant. :)

Ok guys, I'll take your word on it, just looks so "Watchy" and almost identical to one of the men's CompuChrons with the narrow lug. Probably the nicest pendant I've seen is the Gruen Signature...got one for the wife a few months back, NOS. PEople are always asking her...what is that?" They can't tell it's a timepiece.

Hi guys,

I'm the one who bought this one and it's a really nice pendant watch. The price was more than fair especially the shipping (4$ to France)
The condition was really near to mint and the chain fits perfectly.
Unfortunately , it didn't work on arrival but thanks to little1up and his modules , i've been able to fit a new module in it and now it's really funny piece I like to wear sometimes...

It's part of what I love in led watch , you can find all style of design ,always surprising!

I had a second thought on that piece but had let it go at the time - I don't believe it was originally intended as a pendant because every good quality ladies pendant I have seen reads upside down - so the wearer can just tip it up toward their face and read it, instead of turning it, as you would have to do with this one. That and the time button would be on the other side in a well planned pendant. Glad I could help on the "guts" Olivier.... was this a 25mm module?

I also have one of these. Although nearly all other makes of pendant watches feature the "upside down" this one doesn't thats for sure.

But whether this was a "feature" or just a cheap way of selling slightly modified normal wristwatch cases as a pendant - it was sold this way and so we have to believe it was also intended by the manufacturer to be this way.
