Just measure across the inside edge of the case at the widest point, you don't need to take anything out. See, there are some fairly standard sizes, e.g. 29mm & 25mm for mens, 25,20 & 17.5mm for womens...although the brand I suspected(Fairchild) made a lot of 26.2mm modules, as did Commodor Corporation. At the tail end of the LED era a lot of other smaller companies had came into the market, so you do occassionaly get an odd sized one. I Think the biggest module I have ever seen was 45mm(1.75") across, Saturn Corp. made a 32mm and older Hamiltons and Omegas are 35mm(1 3/8").
2/8? Now my line of thinking would be that it has a Hughes module in it(probably light blue, translucent yellow or pale green). Let us know, it's always interesting and fun(at least for me 8) ) to find out what you hadn't a clue on. A picture of the inside might give some of us a chance at making a better guess. Nice looking watch in any event - a working no-name beats a dead name brand in most peoples minds, unless it is some ungodly rare item. :P
