pulsar 3502-2 sport

Post03 Sep 2006, 11:07

i wonder how many of these are left for sale?
like some nice nos wittnauers that were available some time ago and are now sold out ,they will eventually all go.
then look out ..prices will climb sharply ,just think what even average used watches fetch at the moment.
having a nos sport pulsar in years to come will really be something.
they are by far the most beautiful led watch and very comfortable to wear.
i have already seen one watch collector advertising one for $850.
a pointer to future values?

Maybe, but the distant future, I hope. Fact is, this is not a rare watch. Also, Time Computer had a large stock of these when the doors closed in Oct. 1977 [along with Calculators, Green Dress watches, and a smattering of PRMs and Ladies Touch Command models]. NOS or near-new condition is pretty much the rule here. The best long-term investments are the truly rare models [the PRM and Green Dress qualify, because the production was very limited]. And of course, nothing will ever outshine the P1 [though any solid gold Pulsar is an outstanding collectible]. Still, I'm not sure I would recommend rare LEDs as part of a retirement portfolio [I just collect 'em 'cause I think they're cool...].

i also only love them as beautiful watches not as an invesment.but i would rather have a "new" unmarked 3502 to look at rather than a used beat up old pulsar with dodgy electronics.
at least the sport models are as new as you could hope for...unused modules best in terms of reliability .they are so elegant and futuristic even today.superb!!!!!!

I agree Holly, to me this is probably the most beautiful LED watch. Simple, elegant, honest. It seems like it would be easy to achieve that combination, but it's very much the exception, not the rule.

all perfect but... it's quite small. I sold mine after buying it.
below compared to the P2 which is NOT a big watch:

Let's not forget, the Sport is essentially a scaled-down P1 case. The earlier Time Computer watches were all on the large side; the evolution of the Pulsar is mostly a study in reduction of size. The PRM and Calculator models were the only ones to buck that trend [it is interesting to note that the Calculator and P1 modules are identical in size and shape; in just four years, complexity of circuitry went from just telling the time, to a multi-function calculator and watch, all in the same volume of space]. The Sport 801 module is also noteworthy in that it is the only Time Computer to use a magnified display [it is used in the Limited Edition Dress model, as well]. As to why cases exist with or without the Pulsar logo, I have no good guess. It is one of three Time Computer models which exist only in stainless steel [along with the Date II and the Big Time].
