Doubtless, many will be used to replace damaged crystals originally installed, but the glue will not be original, and it will thus be possible to distinguish these as watches "upgraded" to Tiffany. Ultimately, it will be necessary to confirm that the installation is original, as those will be the only watches worthy of carrying a Tiffany value premium.
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone stock-piled some of those crystals that hit the market back in '07?
I just purchased this one off the "well know internet auction site", and I didn't realize how bad the crystal was based off sellers crappy pictures in auction listing. The seller sold this as "Not Working", "Good for Collector"...They did not mention that they crammed 2x 3v LITHIUM RENATA CR1632 Batteries into the module, and they left them crammed in for me to find!!!
What would 6volts of juice running through an old module damage first?,
and if the module was not working at all (already dead)...What damage could 6volts do to it?
They had made a little extra room for cramming the batteries into module by scraping away some of the plastic of carrier, and they must of broke the Bow-Tie connector off while most likely cleaning up after the battery leakage of the original batteries.
Not a bad score for the price I paid, but I would like to refurbish it if possible. It has the a low 5 digit serial, original "U" Magnet, and old style compartment.
Thanks for any help
