From the bid history it looks like someone actually went to the auction only to be outbid by "oldspendalot".

I'm wondering if A) He can get it working (I know they didn't work in the first place but the guy's quite handy) and B) would it have gone for more had the seller said there was a first version P1 module in the lot.

It's nice to see that this kind of thing still shows up once in a while.

Seems like an aweful lot to spend, just to get a prototype module. The other three watches should have only drawn their high estimate of $800, IMO.

It's not a prototype module. It's an early production P1 module. Still extremely rare. :-)
