Novus

Post15 Mar 2008, 11:18

I'm thinking on buying a NOS Novus. I don't know much about the brand so I'm hoping someone can point me to some reference on the company or give me some history here and any opinions on the Novus would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you had £200 ($400) in hand right now, what would be the LED watch you would buy?

The one I've got for sale on ebay is what I'd recommend you buy for $400. But for me, SS P2 or else use it to help get a new Synchronar. Other option is to put it toward a GP drivers. Nothing else is grabbing my attention these days in LED world. OK that's a lie but I'm not mentioning anything as Ed is very persuasive and I've no willpower with watches...

OK so being thick, I need to know what a SS P2 and a GP drivers is please.

The Synchronar looks amazing but it's the Novus I want for the shape.

I would agree the novus watches are all very nice.A brand name of the huge national semiconductor company which supplied the bulk of all led modules. All are reliable and available with in line and dot matrix style displays.
The best quality models are those cases that were produced in switzerland, and preferably of all stainless steel construction.
Some have glass crystals and some perspex. Also case back designs vary, some with screw down case backs and others pop off battery hatches.Interesting various versions of the same watch was made, some have signed or unsigned crystals. I have also seen the same watch with a all stainless steel case and others with a base metal case.
Probably of all my led watches in my collection, the novus models are my favorites, they offer very good reliability ,style and quality.
You cant have chosen to buy a nicer quality led watch.(in my opinion)
I have seven of these ,all in different styles, all new old stock and mint.
All but one has a quality swiss case. 8-) None for sale! sorry
I can personally recommend e bay seller, usick in Germany. Also peter wenzig, from magic digitals , also from Germany.
They offer among the best available.

Hello and thanks for your reply. The one I'm looking at is of all stainless steel construction. The back case has 2 screw down battery compartments. :) Price is £180 NOS.

So it's fair to say that if the watch did need repair sometime in the future, it would be fairly easy to find parts for it?

OK I got one. I got it from Peter Wentzig (sp?) of magic digitals. To say I'm impressed and delighted is an understatement.

The watch NOS really is 100% mint condition. I know some NOS can come along with "storage marks" but this watch, no matter how hard I look doesn't have a single blemish on it.

I have to say I feel extremely special owning such a watch. I bet no one in Wakefield, UK owns one.

I think I will head out for beer and show it off (the watch) to the locals.
