Value of Woman's Pulsar

Post10 Apr 2008, 03:59

I have a 14K gold fill Pulsar - ladies model. It looks like (is?) the woman's version of the executive. It works fine and is in good cosmetic shape, the crystal is scratch free and chip free, Pulsar logo is fully intact and it has the setting magnet. I'm no Pulsar expert - what would be a decent price for one of these? (No box or papers - just the watch) I know the ladies watches always fetch a lower price than the mens....

It looks like this solid gold one from the ledwatch archives:

Ladies' watches, as a general rule, bring less than the mens' models. I suspect this is because most watch collectors are men, and men tend to collect mens' watches [if attendance at NAWCC Regionals is any indication]. If eBay can be taken to indicate overall trends, this model will go for $100-150, depending on exact condition. The stainless versions are scarcer and will go 25-50% higher. The oval in stainless is the hardest to find. Boxes and papers add about the same value regardless of model. Magnet and Auto-Set versions exist; Auto-Set might carry a small premium. Some very early-production examples have a very rare dot-segment display [along with some of the first Limited Edition 18K Calculators]; that might add considerably to the overall value.

for the last few months ladies Pulsars didn't sell high.
I'd keep the watch for the module - some sellers swap the ladies P4 modules to mens P4 Executives, Classics and Bigtimes.
the display is slightly smaller though.

Sorry, but what you're suggesting isn't possible. The Ladies module is about 4mm too small to go into a P4 case; it is interchangeable only with the Dress model, but the display size would not be correct...too small. A Dress module [with the larger display, and Auto-Set only] would be correct only in the P3L, which is built around a stainless Ladies' Cushion case.

I think Poitr was enthusiastically well-intended. :-) The watch in the original post was a Woman's Cushion, so it's module would fit in a Men's Dress(albiet with slightly smaller display). Bruce is quite right that none of the women's modules make a reasonable fit into the Men's P4 line and all but the module from a LAdies Cushion model would be ridiculously small displays.
