2900p2

Post28 Mar 2009, 01:58

as the new owner of what i think is the 2900p2, just wanted to say thanks to ed for suggestions on getting it working. purchased 2 wks ago as a non-runner. the owner said he had taken it to someone to repairand they cleaned the contacts with no results and they did not want to go any further. thus i got it for cheap. i contacted ed and he suggested a 3v battery pack w/alligator clips. connect to the batt strips and see what happens. nothing. purchased and installed new qc and it lit up with various digits or parts of digits. ed said to repeatedly tap the contacts w/one clip until the display went dark, then hook up and let it sit for a few hrs. i did that and the display lit up proper. i then set it using the magnet which came with it and let it run for a few days. made up 2 spacers using 1/2" clear tubing at eds suggestion and put in 2 357's. nothing. back to the battery pack. ok. back to the 357's and let it sit for awhile. it lit up, but not consistently. i set it, but it would run for a bit and go dark. what now? realizing it may be a contact problem i reopened it and cleaned all the contact points with isoprop including the cells. reinstalled and closed it up and it lit right up. set it last night and it is still going well this pm. keeping dead on time so far. this is the dot display, single button, hr, min, sec. like the james bond one on planet led's site. many thanks to ed for his kind suggestions. he is truely a master of this forum and led knowledge. regards, peter
