Question regarding current value

Post24 Oct 2009, 02:52

I'm not selling my watch, but I am curious as to what the value of a 1975 CompuChron is.

Does anyone have a rough estimation?? - I don't know the model number though.

: Question regarding current value

Post24 Oct 2009, 12:33

My eBay records suggest $100-125 for the model you use as an avatar; the more classic model with the Pulsar P3-like shape to the crystal goes for $50-75 more. All this assumes near-mint to mint condition. Goldfill models typically go for a bit less than stainless [just a fact of life]. Boxes and paperwork always a plus [sometimes, if you look at the Pulsars, a HUGE plus!]. Given the current economic climate, the numbers I gave might even be a bit optimistic; generally, you have to wait to find the right buyer to get top dollar [right, Ed?...].

I couldn't agree more Bruce. Sadly I've recently watched a top collector sell some fairly nice pieces on ebay, pieces he had bought off me over the past few year, for 30-40% of his purchase prices. No reserve sales. I personally am trusting that an improvement to the economy will bring better times for our fellow watch geeks, improving a currently dismal market. A few people have to sell out in any market, for any number of reasons...darn shame it has to be hitting so many at once.

I miss the crazy bidding wars of a few years ago

Glad I have other work to sustain me.

: Question regarding current value

It will probably be a few years before we see that sort of thing again. The high-end LED market, like real estate, will be among the last elements of the economy to recover. We are now on the leading edge of what is normally the most economically-active part of the year...the pre-Christmas buying frenzy. I personally am betting the numbers will be less than inspiring of confidence... :-(
