Compu Chron Pocket LED

Post07 Nov 2009, 19:06

Hi, I am new but a very old man (nickname the DynaSoar) who has recently acquired a pocket LED and still don't know what I have. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Description: Gold/tone round (OD:4.5cm) center red plastic round = (OD=3.5cm) lower edge reads Compu chron. At 2 and 8 o'clock, one stem and one push button.
At 12 o'clock posit: is triangular fastener on stem of "squared bollard-type" attachment.
Back of case all gold/tone, with upside showing scrolled-edged rectangle (engraving?) and bottom-side of case reads two lines:
base metal bezel//British Hong Kong.

As I mentioned, Any assist would be helpful, and I have not messed with it at all. I am a collector of glassware, but my brother died and left this and 21 other wristwatches to me. He always did leave me with a quest.

Bernie - glad to have a DynaSoar here. And sorry to hear about the passing of your brother, rest in peace. Anyway....

Your watch is a CompuChron pocket watch. It has a Hughes(company) 25mm module(movement of an electronic watch). That module uses two(2) #386 batteries, the side with the larger contact goes with the positive side of the battery down. The smaller contact side goes negative side down. Positive side is the flat side with printing on it. More info on batteries. http://www.dwf.nu/Batterychart.htm

The "dimple" at 8 oclock is for setting the watch. First press will show month, next press is date, then hour, then minute. The button at 2 oclock is held down to advance the currently displayed setting item.

Value: $75-150, depending on condition/functiona and whether it has glass(more) or plastic(less) crystal.

First off, "Semper Fi, and Happy Birthday, Marine!" This sailor salutes you for the right answer, and I'm off to my local battery store to supply me with (2) 386s. Then I'll be asking how in the h.. I detach the parts to install the (2).

I appreciate your inputs as to value, but I also should ask about cleanup. this isn't a standard M16 (always kept shiny). The question is should I or a professional clean it up?
I'm just a DynaSoar of a swabby - "bubblehead (submarines) at that.
What's your take Chesty?
