Gruen Watch

Post01 Jun 2010, 20:02

For my first post i figure I better let you know what brought me here in the first place. I just picked up this watch on the weekend and need some help identifying it and getting it working.

Now, I'm fairly certain I will need to replace the module in this thing as it was FILLED with corrosion when I opened it up.

In the third image where the battery contacts are shown, what is the piece between and below the contacts?

Thanks in advance and thanks for inviting me into this new addiction.

Hi Rob,
The component between the battery contacts is variable capacitor (trimmer). It should be connected accross the quartz crystal, at the op of photo 3.
You may be lucky and be able to get it going with a new crystal, or the corrosion may have attacked the integrated circuit.
Cheers,
Ian
