If it is thank god it was rejected!

thats the ugly looking watch i have seen i wouldent have it in my colection god knows why theres a reserve on it i wouldent give 50 dollars for it

Yes it is and the P1 is also lurking in the background of two of the photographs in this listing.

Yes bucko, I saw that. I wonder if it even works? But either way, I wonder if he has it (intentionally) in the shots of these other auctions, why not just sell that too?
I'm sure it would fetch him some good $$....

Can't see how it could of slipped into some shots and not others if it wasn't intentional, although I'm not sure what purpose it serves, maybe it's just for effect?

I thought the thread might have evoked comments from some of the other big Pulsar collectors on the forum, I'm surprised none have chipped in yet

i was biding on a p4 and boxes he had on a month ago i won item for 295 dollars great stuff nice looking watch paid for it then went to bed next morning came down here was a refund he told me the watch stopped working the minute he was boxing up so didnt get the watch more like he was wanting more for the watch and didnt let it go so i wont bid on any of his items again

My guess is it is a creative one-off(Frankenstein), built from a mechanical watch case with the correct size back for the back, a "Mc-Gyvered" button, generic red crystal. HArd to get excited over a claimed portotype, with no documentation or other points of reference. I'd agree with the "butt ugly" contingent.

Howard Reihl seemed to think the cache of Synchronars the seller has were part of a trunkful of stuff spirited(stolen) away from his father shortly before his death. Who knows?

The seller is Pete Formanek,previously "led-land". Pete has voluntarily left here after I revealed that an auction site he was referring people to was really HIS site, and he had access to everything from user names to passwords and high bids. Those who use the same password for many sites were understandably a bit alarmed at that thought.

Site admin doesn't wear a watch much either.
1. He doesn't like jewelery jiggling about on his body .
2. Doesn't like worrying about damaging an expensive watch .
3. Doesn't give a darn about styling, except for the occasional social gathering, where it is convenient to point to the wrist and then say, "I sell and repair vintage electronic watches" when asked about his occupation . But he does find the technologies interesting and it makes other people happy when he fixes one for them.

the "prototype" is pretty odd but very professionally made.
note the detail on the inside, the hole for the module screw and the soldered lugs and button cup.
I'm not saying it's original but a qualified casemaker is the author.
it's not a modification as you would probably not find a case of that diameter that could be easily modified to accomodate a large size P2 module.

my first impression was that it might be a prototype made by a technician/machinist at Pulsar...God knows what employees are doing after working hours!
so I would say it's original ... if not for the bogus caseback.
how would the man have a caseback with HR and MIN at a prototype stage, not to mention that the caseback is identical with a production caseback that has been cut down to size.

I agree Azimuth - the work is nice. But opening up the diameter of an existing case would be well within the reach of many with machining experience and access to a lathe(or a precision surface grinder and few attachments) and a drill press.

there is no sign of a crown tube and it's unlikely that it would match the magnet opening which doesn't appear to be a garage invention. soldering lugs is also not that easy.
but everything is possible, Pulsar employees might also have been skilled with lathes just like anybody in the following 40 years.
fake IMO as it's unlikely that a poor design prototype would be physically made without prior consulting of a drawing.
it's more than likely a custom one-off case made by somebody, perhaps even a Pulsar employee... but it's nothing official.

btw. if Pulsar would have a policy of destroying prototypes (as suggested in the story about Mr.X ...neither of these would have survived.
