TenFour Sanyo LED

Post22 Jul 2010, 11:55

I have just picked up this a tenfour with a Sanyo module shoe horned in with an AG12 at either end. Unfortunately it only show a 1 with new batteries but I thought it was interesting. Can anyone tell me anything about it.

Thanks Adam

That is a really dependable module, but it obviously needs a quartz crystal swap for starters. And that is the bad news, that crystal is attached real firmly to the board, and you risk breaking the board trying to remove it. I have taken the safer course on repairing those most times and just snipped the leads, left the crystal in, and attached the very smallest type right next to it. The really small crystals are only about 1.5mm in diameter and maybe 3-4mm long. Plenty of room

Almost any electronics supplier - it depends on where you live.

Hi Adam.
This is the sort of thing you need:

Check with Ed that it'll be small enough though.

you can also rob a quartz from any watch that you already have at home.
the Sanyo module is really good although the quartz is not always a cure.
as you're in the EU I can assist you with this task unless there is anybody in the UK who still bothers to do repairs.
the same watch was offered as CompuChron and the module is sought after as it's the best transplant for creating a frankensteined Pulsar.

I'd avoid buying crystals off ebay, unless the also give a rating of 12.5 pcf. Many are also sold at 18pcf, which won't work.

Sort of like the people selling reed switches, claiming they will work in all Pulsars. Amazing, considering there were different specs for the magnet-set,vs auto-set modules. And for demands reeds vs. setting reeds.

Most ebay sellers will give you any rating you ask for - which doesn't necessarily mean that it's true. (Like selling CR2 LiFePO4 rechargeable batteries with 600, 800 or even 1000mAh - in reality they have 200..220mAh.)

many thanks Ed, that would be me :-?
"the people"? why not use my name?
I'm not making any claims - they work with all Pulsars.
you can either cover them to make them less sensitive or you can increase or decrease the distance from the buttons.
they are not a 100% match but they work and that's what counts.
a modern quartz is also not a 100% match but it works... doesn't it.
