I wonder how fussy the prop boys are. If you look at the stills in the movie I'm sure the watch is more reflective than the near NOS watches that have or are being sold. The 'Blade Runner' Microma in 1982 was anywhere up to 7 years old already and IMO had that finish only worn powder coat(or whatever the finish is). I could be wrong and its the studio lighting creating the highlights. Any thoughts.

Glad to see strong bidding activity on my broken watch....

I am disappointed to read that my watch on Ebay is causing some negative comments on the Blade Runner prop site linked in the previous post. I admit that I scrounged to find that Microma out of a heap of other junk LCD watches when I saw the other example hit $3.5K, but I personally do not consider myself an "Ebay fraudster trying to make a quick buck." I was very up-front on its condition and took many close-up pictures for the potential buyers to review...but they are correct about the quick buck part.

I started the watch at a $1....and the kooky BR collectors are actually setting its worth. I suppose I could have just thrown the watch away or destroyed it in a public execution perhaps, but that would mean that someone's Blade Runner costume would be incomplete (and that would just be too cruel to fathom....)

I guess I should just quit snooping around in that other forum......

Dude, your's is the one that looks authentic....like Harrison Ford actually had a few fights with it on. 8-)

Joeywaycool - I'm surprised that these BladeRunner fans are updset, about what? They should be happy they have another go at getting one.
I'ts not like these Micromas are growing on trees.
And your auction is much less than the other auction. Don't let those clowns get to you.

The funniest thing about this is you can barely see the watch on Harrison's wrist, even blown up,so it's odd how this prop is so popular.

And it just so happens that Blade Runner is my top 5 of all time favourite movies. I've probably seen it 50 times. I've studied every scene and little nuance and watched every version of it. But I've never seen that watch. HAHA.

Now imagine what prices could be paid for *prominent* props...
I admit I always look out for watches in movies - and I learnt that other people can get really angry when I want to rewind a scene because of a watch ;-)

Yes, I was surprised to learn that there is a forum exclusively dedicated to Blade Runner prop/replicas....now that is an obscure interest!

I have never seen the movie Blade Runner, so I may have to rent it this weekend to see if it lives up to the hype.

It's an old movie, very futuristic, dark and gloomy. "A future without a future". But very well done, interesting plot with some decent character development for a movie of that genre and time period. The "fight and pursue" scenes are great...somehow remind me of the scenes in The Shining where Jack Nicholson is hacking his way through the building. I think it is primarily a "dude film", but I'm sure those good folk at the Bladerunner forum will correct me on that. I'm shaking in FEAR!!

You definitely have to see it - very well done IMO and didn't get the 'mainstream' acclaim it should have.
Hmmm... I wonder what kind of watch the Tyrell Corporation would make??

It's amazing how much this watch sold for just because it was seen briefly in a movie.
Do any other 'movie' watches create the same level of interest?

Yes, let's figure this out 'cause I have plenty of junk watches to sell to other movie prop fanatics!
M:)W:)M

By the way, I was surprised to find out that in spite of the leakage on the LCD screen of my Microma, it fired right up with fresh batteries. Curiously, it has a single segment out on the last digit. Was not aware that this was possible with LCD watches. Thought LCD's were all or nothing....

Yo Bucko...

I am sorry to say that my watch collection is at an all time low. I used to have many nice examples (my fav is probably my avatar Benrus), but sold most of them off through the years. I was always afraid to wear the nice ones in fear of adding a scuff. When prices were high a few years back, I rarely held onto a nice one longer than a month or so....so I am left with virtually nothing.

All that is left are mediocre common examples & trays & trays of duds.

But yes I am glad that Guy Ball decided to post many of my nicer watch photos on the ledwatches site.....

The Benrus is cool 8-) it looks like a jazzed up version of the SS one that I have.

Yikes, your not kidding, I would of sold the duds and kept the good ones ;-)

I rented Blade Runner today......interesting movie! I did spot the Microma on Harrison Ford's wrist several times. Mostly when we was holding his blaster with both hands, but there was a clear shot of the watch when he was hanging from the protruding beam at the sky skraper roof....neat!

You should give the winner directions to this one. Guess the modules would be interchangeable? ...But it doesn't look like they care much if the watch works or not anyway, so possibly it wouldn't be interesting for him (Yes,I really believe that the winner will be a 'him'. Just a guess... )...

There you go Lillegutt, the link in you post shows one if fine shape. Good enough for any watch collector, not just the Blade Runner variety. Is this your auction?

I have a few 3 buttons here here all but one are interchangeagable and that has a slightly thinner case and module, typically its my best condition one and not working.

That watch is only the two button variety, so I would suppose would not fit in a three button version. Perhaps the good LCD screen itself could be removed and grafted on.....

Anything used in a Bond movie, Rolex/Pulsar/Omega, but these are all fairly valuable watches anyway even without the movie link, what we need is a list of cheapy watches that we can dig out, and make a killing on eBay with :-D
