Wanted 'Dead or Alive' Girard Perregaux Makrolon

Post11 Sep 2011, 23:26

Top of the wanted list at the moment. I have the SS and rolled gold versions would be great to complete the set.

I am not really expecting any offers but if you don't ask you never know.

Thank you anyway and never mind, there will be another one sooner or later, I thought it was a bit pricey at £1350, what are your thoughts on the price would you consider it expensive?

Yes, pricey. That's why it sat there more than a year.
I'd consider 1000€ "normal" for Macrolon, however it's difficult to say because there hasn't been one for sale for quite some time.

Did you get it? The seller on PCS now says "both sold" (he apparently had two for sale but wasn't very clear in his description and photos and also reluctant to clear this up...)
There's some suspicion about his identity. Can you give a hint about his location?

I have still only got the two, the third one did not work out but I will keep looking.

I am going to give this one a miss, the condition is not so good, it's not working and the band is not original. I would want the original band which is just as hard to come by as the watch itself.........I will bide my time and wait for the right one.

I dont entirely disagree bucko. however i can still see this one going for upwards of £650 - 800 evan though not working and potentailly incomplete.
a risky bet.

To anyone whos interested.
I took a punt on this one, i placed a £600 bid and to my slight surprise i won it for £559.
My resent research informed me that the GP makrolon did indeed originally come with a reptile band, aswell as the known steel articulated one normally seen. so could be all original afterall.
Regarding the sellers description "non working condition " well for a "boxed" Gp mak..£559 , it was worth a punt. it may end in tears.lol.

Finally the cosmetic condition, well i shall have to wait and see.
could be evan more tears, oh no not over christmas as well. lol

I really hope it works FunkyGuy. But even if it doesn't, someone here may be able to repair it. There is always hope.... ;-)

I had a close look at the photo of the band, one side fit's but the stitching on the other side of the case looks compressed as if it has been shoe horned into position, so I suspect it's a 'regular sized' replacement.

Condition wise it was just GP logo on the top of the case that put me off, it doesn't look that bad but from what I understand the Makrolon version is difficult to refurbish.

Worth a punt for the price, looking forward to seeing the photo's FG
