MY PULSAR P4 CLASSIC D.O.W. FLICK WRIST

Post22 Feb 2012, 15:24

Hi all,

I am the prowd owner of the above watch it is a TIFFANY model G.F. and in 9.5 out of 10 condition. Well stupidly when I was polishing the watch/band a stupidly let it slip to the kitchen tiles. Bingo end of module. I tried vainly to get a replacement module without any success and fellow collectors of mine back home in the States all advised repairs were not possible with no guarantees even if they got it working.

In desparation I turned to Hanno owner of Strikes & Spares for help. Well as this was the first request Hanno had for a replacement of parts for this particular model he actually developed one for me hence I am the very first one to get the new Strikes&Spares modified module.

I received the watch yesterday from Europe, checked it out and EVERYTHING worked perfectly, now this is quite a complicated watch particularly having to develop a completely new parts for the module.

My sincere thanks to Hanno for all the work he put into this to literally develop everything from scratch, because of all the problems he had developing it, it took some time but it sure was worth it, and I am over the moon.

Fantastic job Hanno.

Regards

That's great. How do you find the Flick Wrist function, is it useful?

i just got my pulsar classic with d.o.w and flick feature yesterday from Hanno and it works great, the setting was super easy, and the flick feature works great. I have a great idea! strikes and spare should make a module for the P2 with the flick feature.

Hi Caruso,

Yes I do find the flick wrist usefull, certainly impresss people as well an most people have never seen this function and are quite amazed, so well done Hanno. I see SMOKEFROG has a P4 as well, it appears that he needs a Strikes/Spares module for his P2, I am quite sure if he sends a request to Hanno something can be organized as Hanno sure knows his stuff. Me I could not fix a Hong Kong toy!

I like the P4 wrist flick activation also and find it to be actually practical as well as just plain fun.

I recently got a nice Gilette Reflex, which uses a similar but different activation system. When a Pulsar P4 owner first holds a Reflex, the compulsion is to start waving it around and "flicking" it back and forth, which does absolutely nothing. To get the Reflex to display, you need to turn it to a 30-45 degree angle with respect to the ground and hold it there for about one second. After you get used to it, it works well.

I find the wrist "flick" of the P4 slightly more satisfying / fun. However, it's a bit prone to inadvertant activation and I have to admit that the Reflex is perhaps slightly less prone to that. Also, the wrist turn is more inconspicuous and natural than the wrist flick.

So, for those of you who have tried both, which do you prefer: the wrist "flick" P4 or the wrist turn Reflex?

Tilt - flicking makes me feel like a Parkinsons patient. Or is it Tourrettes? :-?

I have a TI here that was modified to a tilt - the tilt sensors are easy to get and a capacitor to buffer the shorter unintentional tilts. Voila!

Hi All,
I have a question for Pulsar experts please. Can anyone advise me if the Pulsar P4 Classic D.O.W Model 5310 G.F. was this watch coated with 40 or 80 microns of gold when the watches were made. I was asked this question and did not know the answer.

Would really appreciate if anybody knows the answer to this question,

Thank you,

KARNAK
