Segment on one digit dim-what would cause this?

Post12 Aug 2012, 00:49

Hi All,

I have a single button Hamilton QED here with the Pulsar module which works other than the top segment of the second digit being very very dim. I was wondering what I should try to fix it? If it was totally dark, it would be a wire bond, but it does light up a bit. Not enough voltage reaching the led? Bad soldier joint? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

There's only one connection from the board to the display, per segment. So if the other 3 corresponding segments are good, then your dislplay is faulty. Probably a poor wire-bond to the dodgy segment.

Thanks for the expert info. As I feared. I was hoping it was something I can tinker with. I'll just have to look forward to 1, 4, and 11 o'clock until I can find a new display. :-D

Best,
Shawn
