The only exception I can see is Abe's situation. It'd be a crime to butcher his 25-IC module and swap a P2 substrate onto his carrier. As far as I know, Abe needs a carrier to be manufactured, to which a P2 substrated can be attached.
Rgds.
Nobody ever wanted to destroy historically important timepieces or values. It´s no secret that early P2 modules and the upgraded P1 modules share the same circuit. However because you cannot easiliy remove the metal carrier from the E/D module (the quartz sticks to it) I would build a replacement for the 6 digit module. I mean if you are planning to copy the module holder anyway, does it make the watch more original if you install an early P2 module? With the 6 digit SASM replacement module the watch looses no value at all, because Abe can re-install his E/D easiliy at any time.
