Dont Buy This P2 Off eBay!!

Post28 Jan 2013, 04:42

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170978721801?ss ... 1423.l2649

This seller is NOT representing this watch as it truly is. I know, because I recently sold it to him on ebay. No sooner then my auction ended then he put his up. I didnt realize that till later as I just randomly searched ebay and came upon an aucion for a very similar watch to the one I JUST sold.
Well, I get into the auction and he had stolen my images and was using them for his own. The watch was still in my procession at this time!!! His description states that the watch sometimes has a slight issue when in reality I sold it, with full disclosure mind you, that it was not operating correctly and that I did not know what exactly was wrong OR if it was fixable. THEN, to make things worse, the only decent picture on the auction (as all of mine were stolen from my ebay listing) is not even of the watch!! I know because I have lots of pictures of this watch and the crystal, with Tiffany's type, is not perfect like in the picture.
I fear that bidders are going off of that one pictuer for its overall condition which is false. Somehow the price has skyrocketed to 700!!!! What are people bidding on? Or is the seller just running the numbers up himself. I mean, 700 for a P2 with issues?????
He doesnt even mention the engraved case back OR the super short bracelet. This seller is a fraud!! If anyone if bidding, please stop and look elsewhere. You will not, I REPEAT will not be receiving a watch worth 700 or whatever the price gets up to. This has me soooooo annoyed!!!!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! The bidding looks dodgy the current highest bidder is a newbie with a zero feedback score, one to stay clear of.

I think that if eBay were truly interested in the welfare of buyers, they would allow other eBay members to comment on listings. As it is, I commonly see watches mis-described, mis-represented etc. and I wish that I could write a note for other potential buyers but there's nothing that you can do.

Over Christmas, my family decided to exchange one gift each and I picked a Pulsar calculator watch from eBay (listing #261139208268). Christmas came and went, no watch. I ended up doing a Google image search on the images for the listing of "my" watch and found that they were stolen from other locations on the web (the first from another eBay listing and the others from ">http://Link removed per domain owner's request). I don't know if it even existed - I doubt it. I eventually did get my money back, but it wasn't too nice to have an empty Christmas tree thanks to eBay. The seller (timemachine43) is still selling on eBay. I reported him to eBay by phone, but they didn't seem to care.

eBay is mainly interested in maximizing the selling price (and their profits). There's no competition, so they don't have to care about buyers or sellers.

I noticed that 'Pocketcalculatorshow' has a category for good/bad eBay sellers, I wonder if it would be worthwhile adding one here?

Don't you just love listings "Posted with Ebay Mobile". Either the pictures are awful/stolen/not of item or the item is stolen/non existent/something different!

Hi Abe
I've also had dealings with that seller with mixed outcomes. The worst was for a working Omega 2 gold (not solid) in it's box's Sent him the funds
Got tracking number which said it was on it's way but, it was returned and that I had rejected it, and it was sent back from UK to the US in less
time than it would have took to clear customs??? Then I noticed it said the tracking info was provided by the seller.. Hmmmm
Had to wait 8 weeks total (I think)for full refund, which came in 2 parts. He said he would let me know if/when it turned up and
that I had first refusal. I'm still waiting.. There was other things as well but they'er complicated to get into here..
Not even contacted me to say how he got on with USPS. He never seemed that bothered I know I would have been if they lost one of my
watches worth that much... Could be genuine but. Very SUS that's all i'm saying..

Hmm, that is interesting.

In my case, he claimed that the watch was lost by the USPS and that he had never gotten a tracking number (which is not really believable for a $500 watch from a seller that is clearly experienced in selling watches on eBay). After a few weeks, I got a refund. I initially assumed that he had found another buyer willing to pay more, but after I saw that the images were lifted, I now believe that the watch never existed at all.

Is there something to be gained from selling non-existent watches, holding on to the seller's money for a few weeks and then refunding it? I don't really understand the scam. Perhaps someone can shed some light on what's going on here.

I've only come up with, some hand to mouth types can sell the same item, sometimes outside ebay through paypal.
I should imagine if you could succeed using several ebay accounts you could manage to do what the banks
do with our money everyday, they only get 3 days but a lot of it.
It don't make sense in this case really unless he was trying to fund a purchase for xmas.
And then pay me back on pay day (which he did) and if he's not to credit worthy, the
fees arn't steep compared to other loans if it's very short term.
Anyone else wanna chip in :?:

Ha. That's pretty funny. I got the following story:
"Well I'm so upset at my son for not getting a tracking number !! I'm sick to my stomach about it now ! It's a rare & expensive watch and u should have got it by now I'm thinking !"

Speaking of amazing stories, silly me, a few days ago I went and bought another Pulsar calculator watch (item #251219006283) from a different seller (lwid2607). The seller assured me that everything was working perfectly. I got the following eBay message just today:

"Sorry to do this but my daughter dropped the watch in water and now doesn't work. I'll issue a refund once I know how to do it. I'm really sorry about this."

Um, your daughter dropped the watch in water? Really??? Come on, you might as well have said that your dog ate it. I would feel better about the state of humanity if he would have just said "Ok, sorry it's not working. I thought it was but made a mistake." or something of that nature rather than making up elaborate lies.

Well, that's twice within the span of a month. I wonder if I should give up on one of these or keep trying.

-abe.

p.s. I bought the watch on December 7th and was refunded a week or so ago.

I purchased this one that I spotted on eBay USA at the end of last year, the listed had ended on a 'buy it now' but I offered $400 for the watch and box and the seller agreed to let me have it.....

I would guess he's just playing the numbers game. If 1 in 10 people don't demand a refund, or accept a partial refund, then he's ahead (when he doesn't actually have the item, and hasn't sent anything).

Somehow I reckon he's keeping the money in a small percentage of cases.

I made a post about this watch a few days ago in the ebay section and was warned off making a bid. The bidding did seem to be going artificially high and as mentioned above, the bidders with 0 feedback does raise a few questions.

p.s. I bought the watch on December 7th and was refunded a week or so ago.

So guess he's using peter's money to pay paul and so on
or Abe's money to pay Pete
If you take a look at his feedback someone has left a follow up on something he bought
which could raise an eyebrow or two.(the use of the word BLACKMAIL )
Also he was the person selling the Benrus that I posted a picture of on here.
He bought it days before for a lot less, the two different ways the pair of
them listed it as in the wording makes interesting reading I think..

Well Abe. guess what? He didn't send it to me when he got it back.
Sorry I mean IF he got it back. M:)W:)M
Take a look at this 261146939728
Sold it again for I guess about the same money, and guess what he's got no feedback for it yet
Wonder if it got lost in the post again !@@!
Think this guy is very definitely on the DO NOT BUY FROM/SELLTO list
PEOPLE LIKE THIS MAKE WANT TO :~#

Mmm, very nice Omega TC-2! Did you ever figure out where he lifted the photos from?

That listing sets off a number of alarm bells. To start with:

1) Use of all caps
2) Too many exclamation points.
3) Sellers that clearly deal in watches (timemachine43), but then go on to spin elaborate stories about dead grandfathers, retired watchmaker uncles, watches discovered in safes, etc.

If you click onto his feedback score then you will see a menu on the right of the page with one of the options being View ID history. Click on that and it will show the user IDs that the particular person has been using. It may be me being a bit over cautious but I always check that first and then look at the bidders. Numerous IDs and bidders with 0 feedback are always a bit suspicious and if I have the slightest doubt about any seller then I will not bid on their items no matter how tempting it looks.

I have to admit, I don't usually look into a seller's background as much as I probably ought to, although it's still a gamble since feedback and eBay Buyer Protection is often useless.

To find the seller's profile history:
1) Click on the user id of the seller, that will bring you to a page like this:
http://myworld.ebay.com/timemachine43
2) Click on the seller's feedback score (usually represented as a number with a colored star by it). That will bring you to this page:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... world=true
3) On the right sidebar, click on the link titled "View ID History":
http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... emachine43

To find out where the seller had harvested images for the listing, I just did a Google image search and waded through the thumbnail images until I found the ones in the listing.

Yes you are right Abe. It is always a gamble buying from ebay as it does involve a lot of trust.
I really wouldnt want to pay hundreds of pounds for something that I had only seen in a picture but such is the nature of ebay.
I was however interested in the P2 above but it just didnt ring true from the start.

That don't mean they're not out there cos when I inspected the
element the top line was HTTP/ facebook.. Or faeces book as I like to call it
Thanks for the info Pauly. I'm probably like Abe to trusting.
Will take a page from your book from now on me thinks ;-)
Thanks again guys.
