I bought this watch not too long ago (the case only) and I would like to know a little bit more about the right module for it and what kind of band would best fit it. Could you help in this issue?Thank you.
The watch contains a Hughes Aircraft 29mm module, the one that is fitted in the watch is a dot display module which I think would be the correct module for the age of the watch (1974). If you do not want to stick to the original there are several different variations of the Hughes 29mm module; dot display, line segment display and several choices to be made when it comes to functions, hours, minutes, seconds, AM/PM dot indicator, continuous seconds, month, date, 24 hour display, day of the week display, European display modules, fixed message modules and of course the programmable message display modules which allow you to display your own choice of message (five words of up to five letters).
It is a nice case and deserves to have a module fitted, luckily enough they are quite easy to find and watches containing the 29mm Hughes modules are common on eBay, look for watches with the same button lay out (commands at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock, set button at 3 o'clock) and ask the seller for confirmation that it has a Hughes inside to be sure before bidding or contact Ed Cantarella at Retroleds he will have a range of options for you including the programmable modules.....
http://retroleds.com/product/hughes-29mm/ MrFrequency AKA Lloyd was selling the European modules not so long back, these had the day of week display in another language (Spanish - I think) and also the 24 hour display or put up a wanted post here on the forum.
The band fitted to the watch photographed is branded Wittnauer and looks (to me) to be original, the watch has a lug width of 24mm and the fitted band has a maximum width of 29mm at the lug end extending past either side of the lugs where it fits to the case, the case is quite big and square so this sort of band does suit the watch and would be the way to go in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
