Wanted: Citizen 9021A movement or GN-4-S alarm case back

Post15 Mar 2013, 11:07

Hello,

I'm searching for either a working 9021A movement or a GN-4-S alarm case back. I currently have a broken 9021A in a GN-5-S case and a working 9021 in a GN-4-S case with a broken back and I'd like to get at least one of the watches working. Unfortunately, the GN-5-S back doesn't fit the GN-4-S case because it's a few 1/10.. too small and the 9021 movement doesn't fit as a replacement for the 9021A either because it's too tall.

Not 100% sure without seeing pictures of the watches but the excessive height of your movement is most likely just the plastic movement spacer ring. The movements for all the 9021 and 9025 variants are all basically the same size. When you take the movement out of the watch there is a plastic ring that runs around the movement (usually white or orange). On the top of this, on the front side is a round bit moulded in that locates the top of the movement in a similar indentation in the steel case. The length of this round bit varies between cases and the respective plastic rings fitted to their movements. Assuming this is the problem then you could just switch these pieces of plastic over from working movement to non-working movement. Plastic ring is easy to remove, no screws, just manipulation - off the back, away from the LC panel side.

Putting odd backs on odd watches is no bueno.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't had the time to take care of this watch as there were some more important things to be taken care of. I hope I will find the time to check it out either tonight or tomorrow night. I'll keep you updated.

Hi,

swapping the spacer did the trick. Thanks a lot! Now all that's still needed is a new crystal because the current one has a very visible chip in the upper left corner.
