Has Hanno ripped me off? What do I do?

Post24 Aug 2013, 02:31

Hi DWF members,

I ordered some parts from Hanno in March. I have not received them yet. A couple of months ago he said he'd check the tracking numbers and see what happened. He never got back to me. He said he would send them again. I didn't receive them. He doesn't return my email queries regarding the parts or my recent demands for my money back or the parts. I have no proof that he ever sent the parts and no tracking information has been given to me. He doesn't respond at all to discuss this despite several emails.

I am rather frustrated and pissed off, to say the least. Anyone have similar experiences in dealing with him? I've never experienced this kind of disregard by an online seller before after hundreds of online transactions over the years. I've always had great experiences with people from this forum and have had some very honest and gentlemanly transactions for parts. I don't know what's up with this, but I would be thankful for some advice from those that have had similar experiences in dealing with Hanno.

Best regards,
Shawn

Hi Shawn.

Since we don't have Hanno's response I will take a stab at this:

Hanno has a great reputation for research, repair and sourcing materiall.
From experience it is difficult to keep in touch as this is not his primary business ( he may correct me here).
Things work very slowly in this hobby.
-I took 5 years to restore an 1812 Georgian Bracket clock because it took me that long to find 200 year old hand cut Cuban mahogany.
-some watches I have restored for some individuals have taken over a year to source parts for.
The above because this is not my primary business and people who deal with me know that. They expect museum restorations from me.

Now all of the above may be moot to you, but, as in my case, I have no expectation from Hanno of speedy delivery, but I do of quality. He has two pulsars of mine; a 901 and 902 calculator which were wire bonded repairs and one synchronar SASM module in need of work. I know I will get them barring Post Office (fed ex) mess ups!

All I can say is that you probably got his notice! And you may want to change the title of the posting when you do receive a message from him.

Be patient,

Cheers, Geoff

My experience: I've bought stuff from him and sold him stuff as well - never had any problems. There have been a few times when communication has slowed, but I agree - this is not his primary job. Also, I can't see him trying to rip anyone off intentionally just to make a few bucks. What to do? I'm sure this thread will get his attention and (hopefully) clear things up.

Thanks for the replies.

This is my first business dealing with him. You obviously have developed a relationship over time with him and have more information regarding how he conducts his business. I am normally quite patient and easy going, but after several very polite emails stating a genuine concern regarding non-delivery were ignored, I assumed the worst. A simple email back saying, "I'm busy, I'll deal with you in a few weeks", or "I sent your stuff, go bug the post office" would be sufficient for me to relax. In the past, when I've been ripped off by people in my daily business, it started with emails and calls not being returned. I assumed that this is the same pattern and it was time to take action to protect myself and others. I would be very happy to find out it is a misunderstanding and that I've jumped to conclusions. I don't wish ill will on anyone and would be happy to take back any incorrect statements. I look forward to getting an explanation and satisfaction.

Best regards,
Shawn

After the information in your email, I decided that it was incorrect to say at this time he has ripped me off and I changed the Subject to reflect that. I do hope that it is all a misunderstanding. I hate getting ripped off.

Thanks for your post,
Shawn

Good one Shawn!

Yes, lack of communication can be frustrating! But I am sure it is an oversight in this case, knowing Hanno! Also knowing Hanno, not the easiest guy to get in touch with.

Cheers,

Geoff

Its a bold statement and i have never used such words if i was not 100% sure that it was correct.
There are many ways to solve an issue...and i can assure u..this is not the way.

First:
there are other people here on the board you could have contacted...myself or Bucko170 or other mods first.
Second:
You could just explain your problem here before accusing somebody of ripping you off.

so yes let me say it with a big execs words...communication...communication...communication, ..damn
i will mis his bullying style M:)W:)M

Shawn,

I have read all the posts with interest. Hanno is a very busy guy with diffrent projects etc. In all my dealings with Hanno I found him to be a straight shooter, always very helpfull and a rare gift--HONESTY-. I am sure he will get back to you as he always does just sometimes it take a little time and patience. Good advice from Kasper.

Regards,
KARNAK.

On one hand it is VERY frustrating when communication slows - you just don't know what's going on and begin to expect the worst. On the other hand, Hanno is one of the most honest LED guys I know. I've known him to lose money on a deal because he didn't want to ruin a relationship.

Has Hanno ripped me off? : NO
What do I do? : RELAX
My 2 Synchronars are sitting in Germany with Hanno since January of this year, and my P2, P3, and P4 Executive have been with Bruce since February.
I wait with much patience, and HIGH ANXIETY... but I know someday they will be back :Prost:
:police: No reason to worry, these watches take time.

Shawn, can you please tell me what you are missing. How many watches are you missing?

Hi All for the various responses,

Not knowing the guy, I expected the worst. I now know he is a busy guy and does this as a side act. And, he has a track record of responding when he has time. I'm not owed any watches. I ordered a few minor parts from him with a module. I got the module, but the parts didn't arrive. It's just very frustrating not knowing if they've even been sent, where they were sent, or how many times they've been resent. I apologize for jumping the gun and to Hanno for any hurt I caused him. I had hit my limit of ignored emails and needed to know the score with him, which I now know. He is a trust worthy, but busy guy.

I will wait for a reply. Seems there is a long queue ahead of me.

Best regards,
Shawn

Is that still the battery terminal and two screws???? If yes, please reply through that forum. Actually I am not at home so please expect 1-2 days for reply as I do not have access to the internet every day. Best regards, Hanno.
