Casio CA 901 game/calculator

Post20 Mar 2014, 20:47

I got this in a watch lot of "dead" lcd watches "for parts/repair".

I just tried two batteries and after some fiddling (I had to isolate one of the batteries from the metal retainer with a piece of plastic) it was alive! All functions work, including the "game" and the weird adjustable alarm pitch :) The display has some bleeding at the right. The case is in a nice shape.

Every digit seems to work, despite the bleeding.

Now I have to learn how to play that wretched game

Have you tried to push gently the lcd panel?
The game....mmmm...i prefer play with my table version of master mind :-D
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Hi Simone, I'll try that when I have some more time, I spend most of my time soldering a reed switch to a synchronar module :)
I'll try the "gentle pressing" method tomorrow, it worked fine for me with another watch.

Hello dutchsiberia,

Recently, I have picked up a replacement LCD for the "134" module, and have a couple of questions:

1) what battery size does it take?
2) How do you you open the caseback?
3) Are the LCD's on this model subject to bleeding? I noticed that the majority of these have bleeding LCDs.

Thank you very much,

- Patrick

See my answer here

And I just put a case opener in the tiny slot you see under the lower left corner (facing the dial) of the caseback and "pop the lid" :)
