Panboo123

Post23 May 2006, 22:08

Everytime I have listed a watch on ebay recently, "panboo123" is my first bidder. He is from Japan and wants to know the shipping cost. My questions are:
1. Has anyone on the board ever sold a watch to him?
2. What kind of success has anyone had sending a watch to Japan?

Thanks guys.

This is a very much a generalisation, but I beleive there are still quite a lot of big time watch collectors in Japan, and I wouldn't have thought you would get too many problems?

sounds like a new name for lala180 they always seem to make a first ridiculasly low bid and want to know shipping costs to japan then when you go to the trouble of finding out they dont bid again. in my experiance they are timewasters hoping to get a good watch for less than ?10. id ignore them if they were really intereted they would ask the shipping costs before bidding.

I once had a bidder from Japan (not sure if this was the one) email for the EXACT weight for a watch. THIS was AFTER I quoted a shipping charge. In that case the charge I quoted was the exact Global Express Mail (GEM) charge from the US with no markup for handling, packing material, etc. They could have verified the reasonabless of the charge by simply logging onto the US Postal Service Web Site!!!!

As I absolutely HATE eBayers who ask the "the exact weight to the ounce" question for an item, I never answered the second / follow up question. If my 1000 plus 100% feedback record is not good enough, I cant' be bothered as I figure I am only going to have additional problems once the item arrives regardless of how well described!!!

I have sold a Pulsar P3 SS to lala180 which got there in a week or so, post to Japan more reliable than to Italy or Canada.

I've had the same question off panboo. Maybe some people just have a quick early bid to track an item rather than clicking to 'watch' it?

I undersatnd the reason for the low bid, but if all you are going to do is track the item, why bother with the shipping cost question.

He seems to be located in both Germany AND Japan tho ??? weird?

He's consistent. I wonder if he already has a good collection and is only after bargains now??

Maybe I'll contact him and ask him; he is quickly becoming a legend in watch auctions!

Yes I had the same experience from my first auction, don,t know about any connection to Germany or if Panbool123 is the same person though.Once the shipping question is answered, you here nothing back and his/her bidding stops.I think it was proposed like this "If I win the auction, how much for shipping to Japan?"

Dont know if its really lala180, but could be possible.

Of course he doesnt bid like 10.000 $, that low bid is just for tracking. Lala180 and most other bidders (regardless where they are from) of course want a precious watch for 10$ if possible, for ordinary watches they usually ask for shipping cost first because theres much scam with shipping cost. Theres soime people that want like 50$ for shipping on a watch you won for 5$, thats why he always asks fist.

Lala is not from Germany, he's really from Japan, dunno about Panboo though. I have sold several watches to Lala and he's a nice and fast paying bidder without any complications. And he's no meany - at least for watches he finds interesting, otherwise he'd not have won my auctions.
