birks led watches

Post23 May 2007, 20:35

i have seen a couple of nos birks leds for sale recently (one currently on e bay).boy did the first one reach a nice price! (over$1000).
not solid gold mind just g/f.
i also have a nos g/f birks.in a different case style, signed crystal with 1/40 rolled gold trim.in the same (modern)display case. (nice velvet case) same functions but i have a spare brand new module for it .(still in its protective plastic case).
worth $1000?
ps the day date feature seams funny because it doesnt have a date function.
when i go through the display and the settings there is no provision for setting the month.so how can it keep track of the proper date?
any ideas? perhaps i am using it incorrectly. any more information on the quality and branding?

The expensive Birks watches on ebay at the moment are re-branded rotary leds (same case, same module, different logo on the crystal). There were a load of NOS birks on ebay a couple of months ago which weren't rotary's which were sold for a far more reasonable price (included a spare module ).

That one which went for $1000+ was down to two people with more money than sense getting carried away. Ledland has sensibly jumped on this and has a very high buy it now on the one he's selling at the moment. The watch isn't that rare (I've got 2 but one of them is dead). The gold plate is thin and the display is bubble magnified. (oh yeah and it rather pushes the boundries of good taste. Bling).

It's a heavy reliable, good quality watch, but I doubt anyone who knows their LEDs would pay more than $200 for one.
