I am sure you might imagine, that I have checked the different types of modules before I began with programming. This is always a bunch of work. Moreover I´ve programmed so many types of ICs to find the proper uP, so that I know about strenghs and weaknesses of these devices. The one I took is a professional device and of course it is protected against magnetic fields, individuals which would like to take a closer look at the code, the most common LED watch viruses, H1N1, the year 10,000 problem and hmm..., yes the end of the world in 2012 :) :) :)

Back to the topic, I´ve already updated movements for Piotr - he wanted the time to be displayed a bit longer f.e.. That means, the SASM modules are regulary updated in general and my customers always get the latest version.

The original Frontier module has been made out of a ceramic material, the one I´ve used is nearly unbreakable.

You cannot re-build original modules and circuits from the 70s which is also not my intention at all, but I think they should have the view of an original movement. This is also a wish of most of the dwf members from my point of view. And that´s why I will use original quartz crystals and the original trimmer.

As for the SASM-50, even a watch collector won´t find any difference from the Frontier2002 unless he has opened the watch, removed the module and than opened it or removed the batteries. That´s most important if you ask me.

Hanno.

A few words to contact us:

We usually answer within 1 day. Benrus: I got your personal message yesterday evening at 10pm, so please expect my answer within 24 hours. Sometimes I am on a trip for my company so that I cannot answer immediately. I have a main job indeed :)

A few words to our service:

These movements have been developped to have a solution for LEDs with non-repairable original modules and not to make a big profit! If I sell just 5 of a series I do not care, sometimes I get a mail and pics of happy customers with working SASM movements in their watches. This is why I am still programming and this makes it a fun hobby.

We offer a full 1 year warranty on our modules although some components are more than 30 years old. I do not know why some people are afraid since I do not know anybody who didn´t get her / his watches or movements back. Sometimes it just takes some time.

Hanno.

Movements that are available so far:

SASM11...........early P2 movements with light sensor between IC and display
SASM13...........P2 movement /Omega TC1
SASM14...........P2 movement with date / TC1
SASM23...........P3 movement /TC2
SASM50...........Omega Digital 1 /TC3

I have some prototype P4 movements running...
problems: hg-switch doesn´t work reliable yet
display problems solved, circuit board is ready

Synchronar: Programming unfinished, 1 prototype movement ready.

Hi Hanno.
Looks good. A couple of questions:

1. Is the trimmer pre-adjusted ? Or do we adjust it ?
2. Is the light sensor functional ? If so, how many levels of brightness ?

Rgds,
Andrew.

A1) The trimmer isn´t pre-adjusted.

A2) The original light sensor is functional of course - the new circuit works much better than the original one if you ask me.
It´s not a matter of levels of brightness - I have the possibility to run the display from very dark (off) to very bright. But I´ve limited the process so that the segments won´t be too dark and the time is readable at night.

Can the light sensor still be retained if it is below the display and not at the side?

The trimmer is a big improvement Hanno. This was the one thing letting your movements down. Any quality digital module should have a trimmer IMO.

Well done !

Or better even a digital adjustment. Quite easy to implement, escpecially in a microcontroller-controlled watch. Even temperature compensation is possible if the µC has a temperature sensor (like a TI MSP430)

SASM 33: As SASM30, however no hg switch

SASM 34: As SASM33, however with autocommand

SASM 35: not ready yet, with DOW display

...

I need to know your demand on further module developments:

I would like to produce new led watch modules and I am currently working on a few projects like the P4 touch command module for Mr Frequency.

Is there a special movement which you would like to replace? I really hope that there is a little bit of input. Otherwise I would start on the Pulsar DOW module, followed by the Frontier 2006 with DOW display.

No reason to do the 41; none of the Pulsar Ladies models had Auto-Command. That was restricted to the P4s, 902 and 903 Calculators, and the TC Dress models. Otherwise, you seem to have it all pretty well-covered. The P4 Touch-Command would be interesting...I do have one of those (I'm gathering that only a few of these exist).

P.S. You should get in touch with me...I'm all ready to go here.

Bruce,
great to see your posting. The 41 is very popular. To be honest I´ve sold 41s only and no 40s yet.

The touch command is a bit tricky. I´ve prepared a circuit which works on 5V but not on 3V. I have another one which works on 3V but takes too much battery power. It´s always the same..

I will call you tomorrow, we have a national holiday, so I will be at home.

Great news for Pulsar Classic and Big Time owners with a defective module. Finally the SASM35 is ready which replaces the quite rare Pulsar 403 module with additional DOW display. With flick of the wrist feature, of course!

Hanno. :-D

And this is how the SASM35 looks like:
